Below are some FAQs to help you get started.

Visit your athletic trainer in The Meyers Family Sports Medicine Center, and they will help get you set up! Your athletic trainer will find a private place for you to speak alone with the Halcyon team representative about what you are looking for in mental health assistance, and to set you up with a provider. Your athletic trainer can assist you with transportation if needed or any other part of coordinating your care you might need.

Plan for your initial assessment call with Halcyon to take 15-20 minutes.

In most cases you will be set up with a provider and an appointment time within 48-72 hours from your initial phone assessment. Depending on your schedule, and the availability of the provider you are assigned with, you will usually be seen within a few days of being referred. Your initial call to Halcyon will be answered by a licensed counselor that can give you helpful information as part of your assessment. You will be given the phone number of a provider that will best fit your needs and it is important that you reach out as soon as you get the number to confirm your appointment time.

If you have an immediate need to speak with someone before or between appointments, your athletic trainer can put you in touch with someone by phone or you may call Halcyon back to speak with a licensed counselor 24/7 at 1-888-425-4800.Pay attention to phone calls you might not recognize and be sure to have your voicemail set up so they can leave important information related to your appointment.

As athletic trainers, we want you to know that it is our goal to help keep you healthy in every way and that includes mental health! Your athletic trainer is bound by FERPA and HIPPA to respect your wishes of confidentiality. However, if you are not ready to reach out to your athletic trainer yet, you have the option of calling Halcyon Behavioral on your own to establish your care. If you are not ready to discuss setting up mental health services with your athletic trainer yet, you may still call Halcyon directly at 1-888-425-4800 to establish care. At some point, Halcyon will ask you to have a billing waiver signed so that we can cover the cost of your visits after your 6 no-cost visits. Halcyon Behavioral contracts with mental health professionals nationwide and specifically from all over the Fresno/Clovis area. Your appointment will be located in the office of your provider. After you have established care, if getting to your appointments is difficult or you are home on break, Halcyon has the ability to do scheduled video, telephone and web chat counseling sessions to keep you connected!

Only the athletic trainer you appoint as your personal representative will know about your mental health referrals. This does not have to be your team athletic trainer if you do not want it to be, it can be the Director of Sports Medicine or any sports medicine staff member. This person will only receive your time/date and provider name, no other information is released unless you specify. These types of referrals are not reported to coaching staff without your permission.
